Dear Dublin Families:
The wildfires burning in Napa and Sonoma Counties are resulting in continued poor air quality in the Tri-Valley and the expectation with increasing winds is that conditions may worsen.
Student safety remains our number one priority. In order to protect students and staff, including those vulnerable to breathing and respiratory issues, we are evaluating the situation daily.
All schools in the Dublin Unified School District will be open tomorrow, Thursday, October 12th. We will be following inclement weather procedures, limiting outdoor exposure of all students and staff. Except for walking to classes, all outdoor activity before and during school hours is cancelled.
We will be implementing the following precautions:
PE, recess, and breaks will be held indoors.
Lunch will be held indoors.
Windows and doors will be kept closed.
Staff will be very mindful of students and other staff members who are sensitive to air quality.
We will continue to monitor air quality and will make a decision by midday tomorrow about outdoor activities scheduled after school on Thursday. We will update you of any changes.
While other school districts and schools closer to the fires may have decided to close, Dublin schools remain safe places for students and staff. If you have a medically fragile student, please follow your doctor’s advice to ensure utmost safety.
Please feel free to contact your school site leadership with any questions.
